Bronx 10 Mile Race Recap

Fall is in the air as the Harriers took to the Bronx on September 30, 2018 for the Bronx 10 Mile race. All 12,500 participants ran on the Grand Concourse in an out-and-back course, starting and ending near Yankee Stadium. The out-and-back course allows runners to cheer on other that started before/after running in the opposite direction.

The women's team took 8th place with Caroline Willian, Morgan Lingar, Michelle Hillenbrand, Tara Jarvis and Hannah Graffeo scoring. While the men's team took 10th place with Edward Atkins, Carl Daucher, Scott Bartucca, Patrick Jagielski and James Innes scoring.  The men’s master team took 4th place!

The good racing conditions paved the way for fast finishing times and PR’s. Several Harrier’s were able to PR especially Morgan Lingar, Ted Larsen, Scott Bartucca and Eduardo Brandao.  The race also serves as a good tune-up or training run for those running the NYC Marathon or any other fall marathon.

We were able to talk to several runners after the race, including Justin Perkins, who said “I took the first few miles conservatively and tried to push the pace in the second half…The course is not the most exciting but it’s nice to have a relatively flat route for a change…I felt good after the race and am looking forward to the NYC Marathon.”

The Harriers had 46 runners in the race and even more came out to cheer on their fellow teammates. Kudos to everyone who came out to cheer and attended the post race brunch!

With only 2 more races left, the team is looking to close out the year strong.
